Most people think it’s a given that organizational problems cause people problems. If organizational practices or structures are flawed, people’s behavior will reflect it. True?
Only partially.
At Arbinger, we believe that organizational problems can invite people problems. But causation moves overwhelmingly in the opposite direction. Almost all organizational problems are caused by one particular people problem: self-deception.
Our training programs show you exactly how self-deception works: How it can lead to conflicts that look “political” but are really personal. How it can cause people to withhold information from their teammates or misrepresent themselves. In short, how it underlies almost all organizational problems.
Self-deception causes people to lose focus on their true work goals and those of their organization. The results are enormously destructive.
